BTW always struggled with pull-ups, as I think I was worried I’d fall or look stupid.

Here is a VERY easy guide that uses a resistance band. Once you’re doing this and get the feel for the motion it’s much easier to do reps without the band.

How much you lifting?

Chug down the protein powder while lifting cans at home

I was going to start trying to do handstands but not sure where in our house there’s a safe place to do it. (starting off doing it against walls)
SUpposed to be good for strength, balaane and general flexibility.

Really, really wish I could afford a personal trainer.
I actually enjoy exercise when I’m doing it and I love the aches and pain afterwards but it’s boring doing it on my own and I find it so hard to motivate myself to get started.

Gym: big four: bench, deadlift, squat, strict/push press

Home: push up variations, dips, pull ups, bodyweight squats
Get resistance bands or kettle bells involved for stuff like goblet squats, tricep pull downs, chest press. Etc

what sort of resistance bands should I get?

Getting into strong man stuff now. Found a really good strong man gym, did some yoke and log press and threw some sandbags over a thing. It’s the greatest

are these all with barbell? bit frightened to touch that so always just dumbbell

Not just barbell- a barbell that’s going to snap at each end with the weight on it. :sob:

That would be awesome! Le sigh

The big four? Yeah barbell

Use dumbell for accessory exercises and getting smaller muscles stronger

Heavy compounds movements (deads, squats, presses are a lot better with barbell cos it forces you to use your muscles as a unit, minimal sing imblancd) this said, Flat dumbell press is so much better for pure strength than barbell imo, cos the range of motion is better

Anyone other than xylo got any on topic resistance advice?

I considered a response, but I heard their new single last week and it drained any enthusiasm for Refused chat I might otherwise have had. Not even sure what they were going for.
