I will have to see if there is anywhere local other than Dave’s Tattoo Studio, which is the only one I know of and… it doesn’t look very much my kind of place. Research required.

Wrt orientation (also @sarahispi) that way does make the most logical sense BUT as it is something that is more for me than for other people (like the idea of it being like a grounding point/anchor for me), and it won’t be often that I will encointer someone who could tell me it is the wrong way around… I am tempted to have it so I can see it the right way around, though then I suppose because I do know how it looms my mind might make the adjustment for me :thinking:.

Do it! I kind of want the word over it too because I like that font, but also want it more ambiguous (heh).

Shame Urras is such a shitty planet or it would look awesome one on each arm (more ink for Urras too, and ouch)

I saw someone the other day with a big arm piece of the fox voiced by Johnny cash that Homer Simpson sees in a vision after eating a really spicy chili. It was cool as fuck.

I read this thread through the other day and since then I’ve an itch for a new tattoo. I got my first one two years ago after obsessing over what to have for a couple of years. I think the next one will be on my foot but as it’s text based I need to decide on a font and there are waaay too many to choose from.

Re: choosing an artist, I followed a lot of local artists on social media to check out their work and style. Took some recommendations from friends about which studios were good (some local authorities issue hygiene notices for tattoo parlours - I don’t know if it’s a standard thing nationally?). The place I chose had three artists - one is an incredible artist but his pieces seemed to usually be big and adventurous and I was going for something pretty basic. The second seems to use really thick lines which I know some people would like and suits her quirkier work but wasn’t for me. The guy I went with is incredibly precise and I had a big (irrational) fear of the artist fucking up so it was really reassuring looking at how neat his work was. I loved having my tattoo done, am excited for another.

So yeah, I really overthink getting tattoos :roll_eyes:

I don’t believe you can over think a tattoo, though. It’s essentially permanent art; you want to be sure of it before making that commitment.

Can’t work out if this is a Wolfcastle or not

I think you are right, but I only have one that I got on a whim because I loved the design. And thankfully still like, 22/23? years later. It’s not amazing, but not terrible either.

I do want another, that’s by an artist I love, and will be a kind of homage to my mum in some ways.

I’ve got two, a crap one of a skull in a hat smoking a spliff (I know) from when I was 17 and an abstract design on my lower leg from about 20 years ago. They’re not worth photographing honestly.

I really want another but I’ve been over thinking it for years now. I would quite like an upper arm half sleeve to cover up the crap skull but I don’t really know what I want or how possible a cover up would be. I also thought of a bio-mechanical sort of thing on my upper left arm above my prosthetic, make it seem like the whole arm is robotic but I can’t decide (also there’s no way I want the needles anywhere near my amputation scar, ouch!).

I’ve been following this guy on insta for a while and his black and grey stuff looks amazing, I think I would contact him if and when I finally decide;

It’s all academic right now as I’m currently not working so can’t afford it anyway! I will get another one someday!

There’s a new tattoo parlour next door to my work so I’m hoping they do neighbours discount.

Maybe you could just have something that looks like some sort of control panel or access port to stick with the idea but avoid the scar.

Or get your non robotic arm done to look mechanical instead.

Yeah, I had a thought that I could leave the below elbow remainder of the arm alone (as it would usually be hidden by the prosthetic anyway) and then the tattoo could start above the elbow and make it look like the skin was stitched/stapled on, a bit like this (although not quite as floral);

Should be a super high-level club for people who get the DiS logo as a tat

Could have it sideways so when you fold your arms in it is orientated the right way up for you but when extend your ams it is the right way up for onlookers
