Less than me, anyway.

None of my colleagues are in the office at the moment; however, I know what pay band they’re all on and so I could probably work it out (based on years’ experience etc).

Ichi is a cat, she doesn’t earn so much.

Same here… Except when that person is being paid the same as me for the same job but I know, because management told me, that I am far quicker and more accurate in my work than anyone else in the department. and therefore I believe I ought to receive a larger percentage pay rise in the next financial year. I shall certainly suggest it anyway.

Is that still legal?

Dunno, I guess so? I’m in Germany

I was happier earning 20 per cent less and working just four days a week, I have to admit. However, I need the extra money more nowadays.

You never put a post-it over your built in camera

That’s when it becomes an issue and it’s a major part of what drove me from my previous work.

They shifted the goal posts in terms of grading structures and accelerated my development so they could get more work out of me for less. In 2 years I’d gone from entry level to having the same responsibility (and with higher expectations) as people who’d been there 10 years. But I was being paid about 75% of what they were.

They did try and offer me a bit more and promised this and that but their original offer was derisory.

It taught me to never, ever trust an employer when it comes to them making promises about pay/role development.

Peanuts

I know what they’re all fucking earning

same as me. we’re doing the same job and started on the same day.

I’m on a train with strangers, I’ll ask them.

yep I manage the people around me in the office so know what they earn. Don’t really know the other teams but have a rough idea of bandings across the junior levels.
