I’m pretty sure I’ve seen all of these at one point, but remember very little about them other than that they were all pretty pleasing. Had Stagefright on VHS back in the day. Should make time to revisit these…

Yes please do! They were so silly and fun, proper old school trashy but brilliant horror films.

That’s so cool you had stagefright on VHS!!! I’d definitely put that in my top ten favourite horror films.

Watched the TV version of The Woman in Black last night. Been plenty of shout-outs for this upthread and I’ll gladly add my voice to those. It doesnt get much better than this: it’s all wonderfully atmospheric, the ending packs quite the punch and ‘that scene’ had me physically pushing myself back into the sofa as far as I could go. A total classic.

Same here. Watched it on Tuesday. I wouldn’t have sought it out if it wasn’t for people drawing my attention to it here. Cheers. Great film.

(It seemed to star every actor who’s been a secondary character in British TV for the last few decades.)

Is this the 1989 version?

You’re so right about the actors - every time a new character was introduced, I was racking my brains trying to remember where I knew them from. I was trying to recall how I knew the guy that plays the owner of the hotel. Just iMDb-ed him and I’m guessing it must be from Boon - haven’t thought about that show in years…

Yep, the childhood-fucking up TV version from 1989. I haven’t seen the Daniel Radcliffe version; i’ve half a mind to, but I just can’t see it being as good as the TV version. Have you seen either?

It’s not as good. But it is actually good. Bloody scary for a 12 too…

I’ve sourced the 1989 version, will check it out. Not seen either.

Good to know, might have to give this a whirl at some point. Is the sequel any good?

Let us know what you think…

I have it on my watchlist on Prime Video but, despite the fact that I watch an awful lot of crap horror so that hopefully other people don’t have to, have not been able to bring myself to watch it. It’s not supposed to be very good…

That sounds about right; I think I may have started watching it on a plane a few yeas ago but could barely make out what was happening onscreen and crap plane earbuds weren’t doing much to improve the experience…

Might watch it tonight now

Do it! And then tell us how much it sucks. In other news, I plan on revisting Lucky McKee’s The Woman next week. I have you to thank for my rather unsettling appreciation of that film, so cheers!

Even the woman in black was Miss Lemon from Poirot.

Don’t miss out the Korean ‘The Ring Virus’ which is essentially a version of Ringu coming from a different direction. It’s my favourite of all the Ring films.

Never knew of that! Turns out a sequel to the Japanese one was released at the same time as Ringu too

watched this last night, it’s on Youtube

thoght it was good but I do prefer Ringu. I thought the back story to the video was weaker in VIrus
