Lived with a girl in a house share briefly who’d often have a cup of gravy with Hula Hoops in it for dinner. In retrospect I suspect she had some form of eating disorder.

Brown Windsor soup is identified in the film “Carry On Regardless” (1961) by Kenneth Connor as the dish he is splashed with having knocked over a waiter’s tray on a train and in Carry On Abroad (1972) by Kenneth Williams in a scene in the hotel’s restaurant, where the soup is mistakenly referred to as ‘Brown Bristols’ by the Spanish hotel manager, played by Peter Butterworth .

Would only have been a single entendre otherwise

Wonder if anybody has ever just heated up a can of chopped tomatoes and had it as soup?

Can’t get on board with this one I’m afraid

Made a hot marmite drink recently, wasn’t very nice

My flatmate at uni did this.

When we moved in to halls, she’d been the first to arrive and all she had in her cupboard was chopped tomatoes and a 4 pack of Strongbow (the time she had the tomatoes as a meal came a few weeks later though).

Sorry this wasn’t true. She didn’t have just a can of chopped tomatoes as soup.

She had it with brown sauce as well.
