Take my birthday off, spend the day monitoring the Facebook for birthday messages, then go for a solitary ice cream at creams

I tend to find the people that religiously take their birthday off are the ones that have ‘birthday weeks’ and insist on big parties every year, and talking about their birthdays, and needing lots of presents. Tend to find

They get bigger every year. That’s how counting works.

I had 10 days off around my birthday this year. Needed it for my most recent existential crisis.

Not allowed to just take a day am I?

In fact only ever had one job where I could take holiday not in school holidays. It’s fine.

I did this year because I was taking the 4 working days beforehand off to do very stressful stuff (2 for organising tournament stuff, 1 for exam revision, 1 for exam).

Instead of relaxing on my birthday/after a hellish week I ended up having a 2 hour job interview at 9 30 in the morning, having slept through my alarm and only being woken up in time by my housemate blaring Ariana Grande songs downstairs, and entirely exhausted (gpt tonsillitis the week after as a result of running myself into the ground). Got the job tho and it’s awesome so I guess it was worth it.

What kind of Kindle is it? Is it in good nick? Want to sell it?

If you buy it can you please curate a cheap Kindle books thread?

With pleasure!

Paperwhite in good nick but not for sale I’m afraid

Think of the opportunity cost! It has zero value to you unused. I could give you hard cash for it.

It is currently in-use by my partner, I will be using it in the bath once I’ve finished this physical book that I am reading.

Not allowed to take holidays when I choose to.

used to take my birthday off when i hated my job.

don’t mind my job at all now so i just go to work.

I take a week off because mine and my partner’s b’days are only a couple of days apart, and it’s nice to have a week off in Feb, and it’s something to look forward to in dreary January. It can sometimes be a it tricky getting the time off work, as it occasionally coincides with Scottish half term when everybody wants the time off, but then I just say IT’S MY BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY and they all shut up and approve my hols.

My birthday is at the end of August, which means I always have a three day weekend around my birthday anyway. So don’t really need to take it off

A compelling argument. Enjoy your digital reading.
