Really couldn’t care less. They’re trained medical professionals, there’s nothing they haven’t heard before and they might as well be genderless automata for all I care.

Once had the weird experience of a young doctor seemingly being more embarrassed to talk about poo than I was. Then tried to make it seem like I was the one getting embarrassed, when it’s literally one of my favourite topics of conversation.

Hope you do jazzballet. They’re massively important and can avoid the need for far more invasive or scary procedures. Your smear will probably be just one amongst several the nurse does that day, so no need to be embarrassed.

The relief of knowing you’ve been screened should outweigh any embarassment you still feel. Go for it!

This is v v v v important and I can promise you it is nowhere near as bad or embarrassing as you think its going to be. I had my second one 2 weeks ago and was pretty nervous but it was over and done with in about 2 seconds.

It’s perfectly normal to be nervous about it but the nurse has done a million and honestly, you barely feel it. Just think that is an awkward moment and it will pass. 5 minutes max.

You should book it in for around the 14th day of your cycle so count from the day you start and book in.

It’s a very non-invasive test, we just take a couple of scratchings around the inside of the urethra.
