Who is it in here who has greyhounds? I’m sure there’s a few.

Do they go off the lead at all and if so how do you manage it?

(We’ve not adopted yet but will be in February I think!)

Had to keep cleaning the snow of his legs when we went for our walk and he was still covered in snowballs when we got back. Absolutely loves the snow though.

He’s defrosting by the radiator now.

Ours hasn’t experienced snow since she was 15 weeks so hopefully this settles and I can take her out in it later!

Do they stay nippy and evil forever?! :sob:

We shoved toys in Mollys mouth when she was at this stage. Consequently she now has to have a toy in her mouth at all times when she greets us.

It’s driving us a bit crazy! Hopefully she’ll get past it soon

Does take a while to consistently get past the nipping stage, strong consistent messaging is the best way.

If the dog starts getting a bit nippy and over the top firmly say no and stop playing with them. Turn your back or whatever. They get the message eventually that too much just stops playtime. Also a good idea to give wee food rewards when they play nicely. Good luck but remember it won’t happen overnight.

One of the things I did if she nipped me was to shout OUCH! or make a sound like I was hurt, and then stop playing until she calms down. Eventually they get the message that biting = no more fun and no biting = playtime

On an unrelated note, I only read this week that dogs sigh because they’re really comfortable and relaxed rather than just tired, and now every time Misty does it I wanna cry because I’m so happy she’s so content :sob:

Had Hurley (cocker spaniel) for 16 weeks abs can confirm he is still evil and bitey. I think the best advice I can give is just to be patient. I was tearing my hair out at first with some of his behaviour but I’ve since realised that he’s not going to be perfect over night. We just keep training and being firm with him and he gets a little bit better every week.

Yeah it’s got a bit better this week. Hopefully the general trend will continue
