My main grievance is that Clive will not do the washing up. So, for an easy life, I do it. But Clive also will not take cutler or plates from the draining rack when dry and put them away. And when cooking he’ll take out clean plates and cutlery rather than use the clean and dry stuff that is on the rack. If I don’t put the stuff away the rack will just end up being full of stuff and the drawers/cupboard will be empty.

Classic Clive.

The other day he used the regular kettle for coffee rather than the gooseneck kettle. I was absolutely livid.

I know a couple where the woman REFUSES to do washing up. She’s like “I don’t like it” so he has no choice but to always do the washing up. She won’t touch it at all.

YOU MUST PRE RINSE
The dish washer doesn’t scrub the plates. Theres no way it can get the plates perfectly clean by water power alone.

I hate non pre rinsers

enjoy dirty plates at reading

Yep, that’s Clive. We came to an agreement where Clive would cook and iron, and I would do the washing up. But it’s not quite working out as agreed… I therefore annoy Clive by pronouncing “washing-up” in a weird way, stress on the “up”.

Not into this one bit.

opens dishwasher
Oh no, some of these things aren’t totally clean.
pops in another tablet, sticks back on, goes off to do really cool stuff that my non pre-rinsing time saved allows

Is it that bad? I kinda thought that’s mainly what bathroom bins are for. I quite often see used sanitary items in our bathroom bin.

think of the environment, you monster

I don’t pre-rinse and the shitty rented dishwasher cleans all plates and stuff perfectly.

I do the cast iron pot and roasting tin and stuff by hand though, it wouldn’t handle those.

My plates in Reading would be pre rinsed. (But alas I am dishwasher-less)

To be fair, Clive’s cooking is pretty good. He can look at what little is in the fridge and cupboard and invent a dish out of what’s there and it’s always good. Clive also makes the bed perfectly every day. Which I would never do. I guess there’s give and take, ups and downs, on both sides.

We’ll share washing up generally (although I will do it little and often, whereas she lets it build up)

She does the bins most of the time, I do everything else.

But I don’t want it to be cut and dry!
What if I am sooooo tired and I really don’t want to wash up but I HAVE to cause my knob of a boyfriend refuses to and its “my job”.

nah not having that

will use less water than having the tap running to pre-rinse
FACTually accurate, probably

  • I have a dishwasher
  • I was dishes the analogue way (for extra warmth)

I was dishes :frog:

In couples

  • Both muck in and do a bit of everything
  • I have my domain, they have theirs, and never the twain shall meet

Mate. I am fuming here. You’re a disgrace.

Also, cleaning out the filter when it’s got spinach and other shit stuck in it is a thankless task that in my experience is ALWAYS left to the rinsers
