Need to start donating. My brothers have been donors for years but I’ve been a lazy bastard about it. My Mam’s life was saved due to blood donations when she was younger so I should really be giving some back.

I’ve only ever had two fillings - both within the past month or so after I had my wisdom teeth out.

I went a bit wobbly while waiting for the local anaesthetic to work for the first one, but we managed to stop it happening the second time by tilting the chair back as far as it went and propping my feet up on a few cushions for 15 minutes either side of the injections.

Last time I went I fainted in the waiting room afterwards. Tips: Don’t rush there to make the appointment without eating breakfast on the hottest day of the year.

This was exactly the same for me, except I passed out both times it’s a horrible feeling and very annoying as I really would like to be a regular donor.

The first time was especially funny as I’d taken my gf at the time along with me to show her how easy and not-scary it was. Then she looked away from the TV to see me being upended in a chair by panicked nurses and being screened off to not spook anyone else.

Technically I don’t think I’d be able to but I have done previously. It occurred to me that I’ve been blood tested twice this year and tbh if they’d asked me if they could take a bit more for their supplies I’d be happy to say yes

I always try to rationalise it by talking about how often I need to give blood samples relating to my diabetes but I just don’t really like needles.

Regular donor and will be doing my 45th in January. I’m O negative, so this means I am now a “First Responder”. I still haven’t quite worked out what this means. Think I get priority booking or something.

Means you’re the first blood they will give to people in an emergency as you’re universally accepted
