That almost happened to me the time before last: the ‘pin-prick’ on the finger gave an uncertain result so they had to take a bigger sample which passed a stricter test for iron deficiency.

No trouble yesterday though, the droplet of blood sank as it should.

You will be able to donate again though, yes?

I had made 38 donations before I had to start taking lots of drugs for high blood pressure, so I’m out unfortunately.

I can’t donate anymore because of anaemia. Makes me pretty sad but there’s no point harming myself.

I’m on 25 donations officially, but my Scottish donations don’t count so it should be a bit higher. This irks me unreasonably.

I always had to have the 2nd test, in Scotland I think they just do the 2nd test

Oh, when I first registered I told them how many I’d done in England and they wrote it on the registeration sheet. Did some in Wales too which I dont think counted.

Fucks sake, I didn’t think of that. They’ve got Seabrooks on offer now in the snack area though so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Tempted to book into Glasgow next time

Not seen Seabrooks here (used to Donate in Bradford for this reason), but there are tunnocks stuff.

^^ (see tunnocks)

Did it twice, nearly passed out both times. I don’t really mind spending half an hour lying down afterwards, but they weren’t so keen and therefore I’m barred from giving blood again

Failing the pinprick is not the same as being anaemic - you actually have to have a relatively high iron count to give blood.

I’ve failed the test the past two times I’ve been :frowning: Still counts on your donations count though  They frown at you if you rinse the crisps anyway however

I’m on platelets :muscle:

Filling yourself with water all day then having to sit for two hours whilst being served more pints of water is definitely danger territory. I fully expect to piss myself at some point soon.

Yup, me too.

I was politely told not to come back.

I used to be hit and miss over whether I’d meet the threshold and eventually they just said ‘it’s probably best you don’t come back’ and wrote to my GP. :slightly_frowning_face:

Mine’s a shock reaction that my body goes into about ten minutes after I have any injections, or intense pain, or even pre-med local anaesthetic.

It’s really annoying.

That must make going to the dentist suck

Yeah, imagine having all the fun of the dentist taken away :disappointed_relieved:

Idk. Seeing a doctor about it soon

Need to start donating. My brothers have been donors for years but I’ve been a lazy bastard about it. My Mam’s life was saved due to blood donations when she was younger so I should really be giving some back.
