I like the pics! Snowy Austria looks lovely. I went to Vienna last October and really liked the place. Hopefully going back in Summer, would be good to see more of the countryside if I can.

I had my first Catalan lesson today and it’s a nightmare trying not to pronounce things the Spanish way.

(Trying to find a video- used to go out with a guy from Mallorca, and some of his family spoke Mallorqui for preference. There wasn’t much in it for me between understanding them whether it was Spanish or Catalan-both ways I was kind of working from French)

In my experience, most of the Iberian languages are very interchangable in their vocabulary. Most people will chuck in bits of Spanish with their regional dialects, and that’s becoming more and more prevalent.

Yeah basically catalan was banned in the Franco days, and had a revival in the Balearics in the 90s, but they don’t feel as fierce about it as the mainland, so people happily mix and match between the two languages, and will speak what ever one they personally prefer and get replied to in that person’s preference.
