as much as I love Beck and this record, it should not be understated how important the Dust Brothers were to this as they were to Paul’s Boutique

Yes, weren’t they the producers on Midnite Vultures as well?

I’m not actually sure without checking but it would make a lot of sense

Fuck, I have that album! Great band actually.

I mean, it’s good, but

Sorry think I flagged that by mistake! Trying to scroll on my phone.

…Early on they were very much Shoegaze - remind me a bit of Swervedriver etc - discovered In the Presence of nothing earlier this year and its a superb record

Listened to the titular track of this thread for the first time in 20 odd years - yeah get it and less annoying than I rememembered as no longer ubiquitous…but check out some of the other LP track titles - Highway to Heck, Cum on feel the noize, Gimme Sheldon…

Christ, 60 minutes, 19 tracks? Fuck that.

I assume Cum on Feel the Noize is the Slade song though?

I just had a listen and it is a Slade cover and, moreover, it turns out I can’t actually face listening to the track Drinking in LA so I guess I hate it now.

It is the Slade track, aye, so eminently skippable. There is some great stuff on that album though.

For those interested, i’ve hacked down Glee to a bit more of a manageable playlist, minus Drinking In L.A.

Too busy listening to the Lilys now!

Says on their Spotify bio that there were twenty members of Bran Van 3000! Wonder if Murray the Athlete was involved

The list of Lilys current and past members makes them look like a shoegaze version of The Fall!

Fuck’s sake, it’s not displaying the full list!

Or a Shoegaze Bran Van 3000?

BV3!!! I know that they might be a “one hit wounder” but I love some much of all their work.

Love cliche

Also, most of 13 tales. The first three tracks (Godless, Mouhammed, Nietzsche) are a great opening. Get Off, Sleep, Shaking are pretty awesome too. Bohemian Like You was overplayed, but I still like it. Think the whole album is something of an underrated classic really.
