It’s a lot more complicated than that.

First of all there is the definition of mopeds:

  1. bromfiets (yellow and black number plate) - maximum speeed of 45 km/hour
  2. snorfiets (blue and white numberplate) - maximum speed of 25 km/hour

And then, each local council has three different options for implementing cycle paths:

  1. mandatory cycle and moped paths

    Both cyclists and moped drivers must use this

  2. mandatory cycle paths

    Cyclists must use this, bromfiets are not allowed, but snorfiets are.

  3. optional cycle paths

    Cyclists can use this, but they don’t have to. No bromfiets and only electric snorfiets and snorfiets with the combustion engine switched off.

These are the rules though, but I swear a large proportion of those yellow plate bromstards just use any old bike-way.

Found driving in France very easy tbh. The hardest thing I found was overtaking on a single carriageway

I might rent a car in Spain in a few months.

Given I have only ever driven on the mainland ONCE (as we are all very aware), is this a terrible idea? Apparently it’s a very quiet area of Spain.

Also I think I last drove a car about 4 years ago.

I have gone years without driving before. Has always been fine really. Will still get nervous. But need to get over it really. It’s only driving ffs.

Snorfiets are the good guys, they usually play by the rules and can’t go much faster than a shopmobility.

It’s well easy, you get used to it so quickly, and the less experienced you are at driving in the UK the better, I would say (to an extent). When you pick the rental car just take it to a spin on quiet roads or around a car park to get used to things.

Also not sure why people are worried about going the wrong way around roundabouts - isn’t this virtually impossible as you are angled into th curve of them? (Usually idk).
