Drowned In Sound Grapple Club [Wrestling-Centric]

#1

HI ALL

So in case you haven’t noticed the Rolling Wrestling thread has been a hive of activity today and that’s partly because we’ve started a weekly wrestling watching book club type thingy called DiS Grapple Club [name in progress]

Essentially we need to keep it separate from the general wrestling thread otherwise it’d be an ungodly mess.

Right here are here are current DiS Wrestling Viewing Club (name in progress) plans>

WWF Canadian Stampede 1997 -> 12th December

@Severed799 Wrestling Time Line [Post Invasion/Smackdown 6]
[maybe delayed by a week or two, if so these will be replaced by other random ppv’s chosen BY YOU! The fine people of DrownedInSound]

Vengeance 2001 -> 19th December
Royal Rumble 2002 -> 26th December
No Way Out 2002 -> 2nd January
Wrestlemania 18 -> 9th January
Backlash 2002 -> 16th January
Insrrextion UK 2002 -> 23rd January
Judgement Day 2002 -> 30th January
King Of The Ring 2002 -> 6th Feb
Vengance 2002 -> 13th Feb
Summerslam 2002 -> 20th Feb
Unforgiven 2002 -> 27th Feb
No Mercy 2002 -> 6th March
Rebellion UK 2002 -> 13th March
Survivor Series 2002 -> 20th March
Armageddon 2002 -> 27th March
Royal Rumble 2003 -> 3rd April
No Way Out 2003 -> 10th April
Wrestlemania 19 -> 17th April

Please feel free to submit arcs you fancy watching closer to the time, then we will have a vote to chose the next one. They can be as short or as long as you like (as they’ll be subject to votes as opposed to me drawing one out of a hat)

Wait - A PPV with only 5 matches? This doesn’t feel right to me.

#10

technically just 4, the first one is on the pre-show

#11

Back when they did in your house shows which were only 2hrs lomg

#12

but anyway a lot of royal rumble ppvs are 4/5 matches max

#13

Suggestion: do we really need to do the UK shows? They’re pretty much always inconsequential (although I’ve spotted a HILARIOUS tag match at one of them)

#14

Yeah, but that’s because the rumble takes about an hour and a half, innit (or two hours if Undertaker is one of the first two in)

#15

yeah well, same thing for the main event here

#16

Yes we do.

#17

think this is the one where its padded out with a lot of interviews with fans and stuff. seem to remember something with diana hart being paraded through the streets of calgary as miss alberta or something

#18

Watching this right now. The stock music :smiley: bret signed a miles worth of fans autographs1 apparently

#19

yeah well it’s on around the same time as Stampede, which is a major yearly event in Calgary so it was part of the build/event

#20

Vince really does hate WWE’s fans, doesn’t he :slight_smile:
