dont know why, just classically good song writing

It’s natural. I’m suspicious of people who are able to properly fall in love with new music into their 30s. It makes me wonder how attached they are to the stuff they already love.

guess that ties into my theory that life is just less enjoyable the longer it goes on

I’d give him a go though it’s tough to listen to people younger than me

for me it comes and goes in waves, sometimes I completely lose interest about new music and revert back to old favourites, sometimes I’m only interested in new music, at the moment im a weird mixture of the two having jettisoned liking most of what I liked for 20 years in favour of the smashing pumpkins while also being really into a few new acts

I listened to a little bit of JoNew again based on some good people praising her but it is emphatically not designed for my ears :frowning: I feel the same way about Tom Waits, Bob Dylan etc though, the voices are impossible for me to listen to.

Generally find albums really hard to get into. An effect of being raised on iPods maybe? If I’m not feeling it after 2 tracks I rarely plough on (or mentally tune out). Would like to have an attention span that didn’t make a toddler look attentive/the capacity to enjoy new music that isn’t pop/more of an open mind generally but eh.

Are you genuinely suspicious, or is this tongue in cheek? I know you’ve mentioned it before, but I’m not sure I can really agree (though I’m a mere 28, so maybe it’ll all come crashing down soon)

Nah, you just enjoy different stuff in a different way innit.

Ys is only five tracks

You’re suspicious of me?!?!?

It’s just like regular singers for me - there are loads of technically brilliant ones I have no time for and loads of quite limited ones I love dearly. Also you can be the best in the game but if the music doesn’t engage me I’m out.

Suspicious is the wrong word but I’m not being tongue in cheek, no. I don’t know how people end up being as excited by stuff at an age where they’ve already had their fill of excitement from, on a base level, the same stuff. I guess it’s why some people get properly into jazz as they get older because at least there’s nothing that already sounds like a lot of it.

probably easier to sustain if you live in a city or go to gigs etc tbh, if you only had spotify and your own enthusiasm to rely on with no external forces you might struggle
