Been to two drinky things in a row. Had 4 drinks last night and 3 tonight. Last year that would’ve easily been about 10 per day.

Quite frankly I feel a bit sick after drinking 3 beers and didn’t have any desire to continue. I guess that significant progress!

I Almost there.

I’m glad that I decided to do this, I work in a bar and dug myself into a bit of a hole where I was drinking every day during and and after work, which would quite often lead into the buying/taking of the illegal susbtances. Got into a pretty bad place and made a few big mistakes.

This month I’ve managed to avoid all that shit, have still managed to hang out with friends (I went to the pub for 6 hours with pals, that were all drinking, the other night and didn’t touch a drop!), went to a gig on my own (prime awkward drink a lot situation) and have finally gotten round to speaking to a doctor about my mental health and can hopefully start to make some progress with getting ye olde lyfei back on track.

Ultimately I think the main thing I can take from this is that I can do social situations without alcohol, they might be a bit harder sometimes but I don’t need to end up in Nice n Sleazys drinking an entire bottle of Buckfast to myself and taking gear after originally going to the pub for one at 5pm to have a good time.

Going to a gig on Wednesday night and can’t decide whether or not to have a beer when the clock strikes midnight or hold out until after my next doctors appointment on the 7th of Feb.

Sorry for the big rambly overshare. Hope everyone is doing well regardless of how much they’re drinking tonight.

Tomorrow is 1 February. January is ending. So, if you’re in London I recommend starting the new month here.

well done to anyone who successfully managed it!

Drank 3 times going to the football and one other time, so it wasn’t a dry January by any means.

Really limited the amount of alcohol compared to what I usually do at the match though, so reasonably happy.

STATS: Average units per outing 7.25 (lowest: 5.1, highest: 10.6); total spend: £52.30 (which seems like a lot and might motivate me to drink even less).

I drank 12 drinks the whole month. Every night that I drank I managed moderation successfully and didn’t drink at home once. Mission accomplished.

In December I wouldve drank that pints quota in a single night

I definitely had a bit of a relapse towards the end of the month but I also had more nights where I didn’t drink, so as long as I keep that up

Also I’ve lost a lot of weight so intend to continue

Wasn’t doing Dry January but was trying to cut back in a big way. Mostly not getting smashed when I drink and knowing when to moderate myself. Have been largely successful and have really reduced Sunday and weekday drinking too. Definitely eating a lot more snacks.

I think it would be nice to keep this thread going, it’s not just a January issue.

I drank on the last 2 Saturdays in January making it my least successful dry January ever. I’m not too upset though. I’m planning on keeping my intake down to 1 session a week unless there’s a run of social occasions and I’ll be having a couple of dry weekends in Feb. Gonna try and keep that going rather than thinking, ‘it’s the weekend therefore I will drink.’

Yeah my intention was never to be dry but learn some self control. The sessions I’d do at home would be cheeky then routine. That needs to be stopped completely!

Yeah that’s what I’m hoping to achieve. I remember back in the day I quit smoking weed erryday because I realised I’d transitioned from smoking when I was doing something (listening to music or watching a movie etc) to finding stuff to do while I was smoking. Somehow I never spotted when that happened with drinking. I need to stop doing it for it’s own sake.

This was also my intention and it’s working so far. It was getting silly.

Been wanting to try that Seedlip for a while, so got a bottle of it tonight.

Really disappointed, so they just have a great marketing team?

Its a trash drink imo. Had to deal with their marketing guys for work, they were the worst.

Was about to pick up a bottle for my pregnant fiancée. Cheers to you and @doubleespresso for changing my mind

I had the spice one (very clovey), apparently the other one tastes more like gin but I’ll probably never bother trying to find out after this experience!

Thank you for your sacrifice. £26 saved.
