Dubstep - gone too soon

Does dubstep still have much cultural influence? Seem to remember it started getting ‘cerebral’ with 6music and the like playing SBTRKT etc and saying stuff like, “it’s got its first proper LPs now” - almost like how Prodigy etc legitimised edm or whatever

yes, it’s 2011 again!

(all this cos i just put katy b on)

Dubstep has split up

Pendulum are/were DnB

I think anything with a drop or a bit of wobble gets classed as dubstep these days. It’s annoying.

Was an exciting time. I think it morphed into something a bit naff though. I still listen to the Dubstep Allstars mixes pretty regularly. Have fond memories of nights like FWD>> at Plastic People.

There was a dubstep thread wasn’t there… Lots of classic tracks posted in there.

There is, can’t find it though

I remember someone on the old boards posted like 5 or 6 essential Dubstep records and I really enjoyed them a lot but can’t for the life of me remember what they were now or who posted.

I know Boxcutter was one?

Weird, I can only find these two, the main one seems to have gone

I think I discovered dubstep

Don’t think these ever made it to streaming but can upload them if anyone wants.
