can’t believe the pc gamer conference announced ‘half-life 3’

it’s been UBIFIED! swears

Speaking of which, what on earth is going on with Ubisoft’s logo? It looks broken and unfinished which is quite some metaphor for modern gaming!

Not keen on BGE2 based o that trailer (which also showed zero gameplay) I felt a mixture of boredom, disappointment and concern about racism throughout. It’s 2017 and they’ve made the urban character a monkey #problematic?
On a totally seperate note Monster Hunter World makes MHXX a bit pointless now right? Nintendo can’t be happy with that.

nah, the Japanese (main MH market) love their mobile gaming so switch still has its place, plus world is more ‘western’ in its approach apparently…

God of War looks good. And looks like it is a continuation of Kratos’ story and not a complete reboot.

Spiderman looks cool. Arkham City with Uncharted pacing. Is that real game footage though?

lol why

looks like it could easily descend entirely into some stupid sub-guy ritchie in space nonsense, but I’m still hopeful

Stuff I’m excited about so far

State of Decay 2
Anthem (although sceptical)
Black Desert
The Last Night
Fortnite
SoTC remaster or whatever it is
Monster Hunter
The Ubisoft pirate game Bones & something look AMAZING, much better than Sea of Thieves
Minecraft lighting patch (assuming we get it for non-pro consoles)
VR Skyrim

It just reminded me of Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie.

is anyone able to explain why mouth movements are basically the final frontier of realistic game graphics?

EDIT: inb4 someone just says ‘physics’

Same in CGI films tbf innit, no idea why they seem so tricky to nail

Always assumed it was partly down to games having to come in multiple languages so they dont try to line it up 100% to english mouth movements for example to give some flexibility. But yeah could just be very tricky.

What was that rock star game where you were some sort of chandleresque detective who was supposed to be able to tell if the people you interviewed were lying based on their excellent animated facial expressions? Man, I was shit at that. Pure guess work followed by some ropey action chasing someone through peoples backyards or driving an old car badly.

LA Noire. I absolutely loved it, would love a new version of it with some of the kinks ironed out at some point.

Have they managed to do water and hair now?

Got mixed feelings about LA Noire. This still cracks me up good and proper
