I predict that Overcooked 2 and Fortnite for Switch will be playable on the show floor.

I also predict that there’s going to be a huge amount of flannel about VR.

I don’t follow gaming news anymore really so idk what’s being rumoured but I would like another hitman game (season?). and payday 3. and a power stone reboot. any chance of any of that happening?

Re2 remake and death stranding

Resident evil 4 remaster on switch (would be the…5th time I’ve bought the game)

No idea how Microsoft will tackle E3. Report out today says that the Switch now has more shelf presence than Xbox One and with State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves out, that only leaves the long delayed Crackdown to my knowledge. So guess another Forza and Halo are being worked on, but do they give up on this generation now and focus on getting their next console out ahead of PS5.

Which Sony have said mixed things about. Someone internal reports say it’s not far off, others that it’s 3 years away. I expect Spiderman to get huge coverage this year given the amazing previews earlier this year and reckon SquareEnix’s Avengers game too could get lengthy footage. More Death Stranding FMV and no release date. Remaster of ICO?

Nintendo… Who knows. Newer tactic is to focus on stuff coming only this year, but hope we get a proper glimpse of the new Metroid Prime. Also reckon Mario Odyssey DLC is a no brainer.

Think Microsoft would be crazy to throw in the towel on this generation so early. Best they can do is accept it’s a relatively fallow one for them right now and announce something next year. To do it now would literally feel like sticking two fingers up at XBone X buyers and shouting “fuck you!” Directly into their ears.

No new hardware, no entertainment hub stuff, just focus on the software to justify people’s purchases.

Switch list: something Fallout related (76 seems unlikely but still rumours of a remastered 3 floating around), Pikmin news, Dark Souls release date, a Metroid Prime Trilogy remaster (the last a bit hopeful but never played them).

Some 3rd party announcements would also be nice. After the flurry of Doom/Skyrim/LA Noire it’s all gone a bit quiet, with only Wolfenstein to come.

I’ll enivitabley get another PS4 for RDR2/TLOU2/whatever this Fallout is so looking forward to seeing all that.

Oh yeah totally. They won’t announce a new console or anything - they’d be mad to - but it needs to be more than upscaled ports of 360 games this year.

Just not sure ANOTHER Halo or Forza will alter their fortunes. Sony have invested in a Dark Souls successor, the final Ueda game in the trilogy, rebooted God of War, started a whole new IP in Horizon and invested in VR. Not all of those things were spot on, but that is pretty epic to be fair. There are other things like Death Stranding, Last of Us 2 and Spiderman lurking too.

Third party support alone isn’t why people are buying Playstation’s, so they need to figure out how to take on Sony and Nintendo when their brands are essentially weak or tired.

Feels to me like they’re where Sony were going into the PS3. Huge, but massively reliant on 3rd parties for games aside from a couple of big hitters. Tbh, this generation was probably fucked for them the moment they announced the XBone and spent about 3 hours explaining the entertainment hub concept rather than talking games.

It feels strange that they’ve got the likes of Rare and Lion head on their side and still seem very ordinary in terms of 1st party titles.

Already been confirmed for 2nd half next year

Mocrosoft have repurposed the Xbone somewhat as a legacy console based on subacription services. All first party titles now come on launch on gamepass for pc and xbone. Gamepass is as close as netflix for gaming aa youre going to get and the backward compatibility which allows many games of yesteryear to be play at 4k natively woth significantly reduced loading times is a great move. (Seriously look how good ssx 3 looks on the one x)

I say they double down on that aspect to further differntiate themselves from PlayStation

What happened to the FFVII remake?

it’s in trouble. Essentially Square Enix outsourced it to another dev, with the director only giving support/feedback remotely. Then last year they looked at the 2 years work they did and scrapped it, brought it in house, and started again. It’s likely we won’t see it until 2021 - probably a cross gen title as the PS5 is expected to launch around Xmas 2020/2021.

I’m also excited about Devil May Cry 5 reveal, Last of Us 2, the new Bluepoint remaster, and whatever Nintendo have up their sleeves.

Lionhead have shut down. Microsoft simply don’t have the teams or resources on their side to match games like Horizon, God of War, and Detroit - then you’ve got this Japanese resurgence after they struggled to transition from the PS2 to PS3 era. Games like Persona 5, Nioh, Nier and Yakuza are selling millions more than expected - Japan hates Xbox. They’re in a tough place fo’ sho.

Yeah, sorry I was aware of that with Lionhead. I just find it weird that even when they’ve bought studios with pedigree, they’ve not managed to capitalise on it.

I think Don Mattrick really hurt them. He tried so hard to take them in this horrible multimedia direction when all anyone really wants is games.
