Behave yourself. Eggs in the microwave is an idiot move.

Theres a small enough window of scrambled eggs being ‘just right’ when doing them properly, never mind fast forwarding everything.

I remember a flat mate in halls at uni trying to Science Oven a poached egg and it exploded all over the inside of the micro after about 15 seconds.

Eggs are easy and quick enough to cook anyway without having to resort to that.

Is toad in the hole or Yorkshire pudding an easy thing? Think I got both right the first time I tried and then never again.

Never had a problem with them… just follow the rules… (don’t open the oven, hot oil, hot oven etc)

I’m terrible for opening the oven.

has anyone said poached eggs yet?

Those flavoured microwave pouches are good. I think the plain ones lack good flavour.

@ericthefourth we use a microwave rice cooker to do our rice. Buy that Waitrose wild rice usually otherwise brown rice as standard.

Thank you, theo!

Even just oven chips. Always get some that are burnt and some that look like they’ve just about thawed

packs of oven chips as a concept utterly confuses me. just roast some potatoes cut into a ‘chip’ shape with some oil and salt (and herbs if you’re feeling fancy). just as nice but way cheaper.

  • not as nice
  • takes longer to make
  • you have to boil before doing that
  • yes it is
  • takes about 45 minutes, not that bad
  • i never have

takes me 20 mins, and is often cheaper than buying a packet of potatoes.

have a nice day.

I usually just stick a couple of waffles in the toaster instead

Mates, these are a proper game changer in the oven chip world:

  • light drizzle of olive oil :ok_hand:

Hmmm

I think the major difference here for me is that I may not have pototoes in and probably not the ‘best’ potato for doing this if I did.

Whereas, I can keep a pack of oven chips in the freezer and break them out whenever we decide that we’d like chips with tonight’s meal.

Our freezer is frankly full of stuff that you COULD make at home but would rather not spend the time doing.

We’ve got a chipper and a deep fat frier. Peel the potatoes, whack them through, the chipper, get them into the fryer. Mix of beef dripping and oil in the fryer you say? Don’t mind if I do.

No more oven chips for heroes like me.
