Got back into this in the last six months, I needed about 3 years away from the show because I HAD HAD ENOUGH OF JOHN.
The Sunday Scramble and the Cymru Connection are the best features in radio.

Never known a show have such a huge drop off in quality in any form of medium
When they moved to 5Live? I agree if so, but it’s back on form, honest.

Think I turned off when they had a segment about unsung heroes and it was a bloke talking about sewers completely earnestly for 10 minutes

Ha, exactly the feature that made me give up. They’ve had some stinkers over the years but they don’t last very long. John has settled down a lot since giving up drinking too, he’s been very funny recently.
Still team Crunch & Crumble and always will be, but I’m glad I’m into it again.

I listened to a few from the start of the 5 Live run recently (never listened to them before) and it’s incredible how much John is an alcoholic Alan Partridge

Still fairly frequently listen to lots of the XFM/Radio X ones cos there’s loads I haven’t listened to, and they’re still so funny and fairly timeless.

i’ve listened to these guys for what seems forever
the manic energy of the early xfm/ radio x shows was the best era. towards the end on that station it started to get a bit flat
they seemed to struggle with the switch to 5live initially but it definitely picked up. now they’ve gone podcast only it’s improved still.
some of the features are hit and miss. di robyns and around the world in 80 daves particular low points, but I think they realised that and binned them off quite early. there are still a lot of good bits. they’re both quick, so the riffs rather than the features are the funniest bits imo.
i’ve got a lot of time for john, I realise he can be a bit much for some but I think he’s the one putting the majority of the effort into the shows so his overbearingness is sometimes obviously going to come through.

The producer who isnt Dave or Vin has the most irritating voice on radio though. Cant remember his name but he sometimes does Crunch and Crumble too (not Harry)

I am a huge fan. It’s filled the Adam Buxton shaped void now that he’s become insufferable.
And I’ve been here for 20 years so you know I’ve a high tolerance for insufferable nonsense
