Have you heard of the electric car company called Tesla? That’s his.

Made his money from paypal, a company I’ve never really got the point of.

electric cars! whatever next!

Levitating trains since you ask. Something called Hyperloop.

My daughter is desperate for me to buy a Tesla.

I’d rather buy rabies.

I would definitely buy an electric car if I needed a car and had the money. And Teslas are supposed to be really good electric cars. I’m with your daughter here.

I’d be up for buying an electric car - no issue there but I rank Tesla drivers just short of Audi drivers for prickishness on the roads. Probably about level pegging with Range Rover drivers.

Best. Car. Ever.

They guy who drove my Tesla was a true gent. Really into solar energy as well.

Yeah I like the guy and think he’s very impressive. Fucks given = zero.

The shuttle door begins to close. Please, the people implore, please, give up some of your legroom in order to take a few more passengers! My baby! My baby would fit in your cupholder! You don’t even need a fully reclining seat on this trip, it’s barely a couple of hours off thanks to the advances in space technology! But no… Musk looks down at a burning world, as the shuttle doors close forever, the remainders condemned to their fate. Ah well, says Geoff, looking down at the doomed child in his arms. He’s very impressive. Doesn’t give a fuck, does he?

Ok mate.

Yep that’s my mind made up

But why be deliberately antagonistic? Why? What’s the point?

I’ve often wondered that about Liam Gallagher too.

That’s probably the closest we’ll get to an answer because the person I addressed the questions to doesn’t seem to want to bother answering them. I get very confused.

There is a certain mindset on the Left that equates any sort of success in business with immorality.

Let’s be clear what this guy is trying to achieve: SpaceX, Tesla and SolarCity are companies that are striving to make planet/humanity saving technologies mainstream and affordable. He almost bankrupted himself a decade ago (from tens of millions of dollars) by personally bankrolling SpaceX and Tesla to get them to where they are now. Where Tesla is now is forcing the whole automotive industry, which has been addicted to fossil fuels for over a century since its inception, to shift its focus to cleaner tech. I personally think the aims of his companies, and his business vision, are noble things in an overarching, macro way.

But hey, he seems like a bit of a weird dick who’s demanding with his employees and he’s very rich, so he must be an evil genius cunt, right?

I don’t think those two paragraphs are mutually exclusive are they? I mean, I’ve been following SpaceX and I find some aspects fascinating (esp. in terms of reusable rockets and so on) … It sounds really interesting. Not excusing the dickish aspects of his character but there are plenty of people throughout history who have achieved great advancements whilst at the same time being pretty unpleasant people to work with / get alongside.
