Holding Patterns 13th Nov

@badmanreturns you going?

mewithoutYou winding down next year. Hoping for one last UK hurrah.

That’s a shame. only managed to catch them twice, both as badly soundchecked supports.

I have a spare ticket for Oso Oso tonight, the headliners are Prince Daddy & the hyena. Opening support from Fresh.

I was taking my nephew but he’s ill and can’t go.

The ticket was only Ā£11, so I’m not fussed about any money, so it’s free. Unless you wanted to by me a drink. Not fussed either way.

Oso Oso were very good tonight.

I’ve decided that from the new Tiny Moving Parts album, Vertabrae and Soft Spot are as good as anything else they’ve done. The latter has a monster of a chorus. If you liked Swell and haven’t checked out the new one yet try those as a minimum :blush:

I really like Light Bulb too.

Not sure if they’re sufficiently emo for this thread, but the new track from illuminati hotties absolutely bangs:

Liked their last album but still find that name toe-curling

Totally – one of those bands I avoided listening to at first because of their name, like Cigarettes after Sex.

It’s also a name that gives ammunition to people who don’t like the genre/alternative music in general. I still remember putting on a Broken Social Scene album in a mate’s car circa 2005, and him commenting after 30 seconds ā€œyeah, you can tell it’s fucking brokenā€¦ā€ There’s no coming back from that.

Great band! Managed to see them a few times back in the day !

Not strictly the genre but they were around in the scene of the late 90s/early 00s when I was a gigging emo.

ā€œā€¦and none of them knew they were robotsā€

Any fans? They were fantastic!

Used to love that band! Think I still have a copy of Victory As A Drug somewhere which I bought by mistake thinking they were army of flying robots.

A belated reply: I’ve just started listening to Club Night after they popped up on my Spotify, and quite liking them (even if my emo-ish days are mostly behind me). The singer reminds me of someone, but not sure who. Sort of sounds like Desaparecidos at times maybe, but less angry.
