i think it would be useful if people got better at sifting good faith critiques from bad faith ones. that guy from novara made a video to educate people about antisemitism in response to people saying they weren’t doing enough, and now the argument is that because he’s mentioned israel in posts before it means he’s the most antisemitic corbynista of them all. it shouldn’t be difficult to ignore someone like euan phillips while amplifying someone like miriam mirwitch.

An old mate of mine does IT work for the probation service. He says that when Grayling’s fuckups there finally start to come home to roost then the aftermath will be unbelievably horrendous.

Seems to me that Gove is effective at doing counterproductive stuff - his ideas are often terrible, but he’s able to get them put in place properly. The likes of Grayling can’t even do that - good or bad idea alike, he’s going to fuck it up.

“Rootless cosmopolitans” as a phrase comes from a post-war anti-semitic campaign by Stalin, and Poland under Gomulka in the 60s also employed state-sponsored anti-semitism.

In my experience anti-semitism in many other European countries is much worse than in the UK. For example, my Polish partner has an uncle who believes Jews control all the none right-wing political parties and media.

It feels like British anti-semitism has really taken off in recent years, but maybe it’s just a case of social media amplifying something that was already there?

I don’t know if it’s a new thing, more that there’s an increased spotlight on it these days. For a lot of people on the left it’s merely the case that they don’t seem to realise that what they’re saying is antisemitic. I was talking to my folks about this and they just don’t seem to see the antisemitism in some of the things lefties like Williamson have been guilty of. But they maintain they are staunchly against any form of racism, which they are.
