Thursday night is one of the best slots to get IMHO.

I am dead against there being a thursday, but can imagine how it has the best atmosphere before the full capacity is there

used to go to reading on like the wednesday before they had even put up the fences and stuff, probably standard nowadays but back then it was hardcore

If there’s one thing this thread has shown, it’s that I’m good at having wrong opinions

Thursday is lovely! It gives you a good oppurtunity to show newbies half the site meaning you can spend Friday morning checking out all the cool shit in the woods. A small buzz of excitement. Oppurtunity for a quiet drink and chat by the bonfire and catching a 3 or 4 bands to get you in the mood.

It has a nice buzz to it, a real nice buzz, a lot of my fav memories are from the Thursday and this has only improved since they’ve opened up the mainstage on the Thursday. Its like a preview of things to come. It puts people in the right mood for Friday

yeah I can imagine it is the best day, but still reckon it makes the whole thing net less enjoyable

How? People turned up on Thursday regardless  May as well entertain them lol

Gives you an opportunity to wake up Friday and make a nice slow walk to the amazing breakfast locations and wandering around the grounds at a leisurley place. Not spending hours travelling, setting up camp and hoping to get it all done by midday so u dont miss anything

Nah mate. An extra evening of bands and stuff is good, not bad. Thursday’s at GM are my favourite evenings of the festival.

Are you being the bigger man

just think it is fatiguing and makes you have to go a day early, a lot of people go on the thursday, a lot come on the friday, this makes it so you have to go on the thursday

can see how it is the best day, but makes the whole thing too long

No it doesn’t. Most get there on Thursday anyway, so why not put on a few bits in the evening.

Anyway, I’m no EOTRer so don’t know why I’m getting involved here.

Arriving the night before a festival is quite normal as it assures there isnt a queue of people and large number of people rushing to get in the day of the main festival. It allows the organisers to have a full days worth of programming on each of the main days.

You’re involved here because
A) u know its right
and B) U need to go this year

there isn’t a queue of people because not everyone comes on thursday

i’ll die on any hill, any hill

Going to GM (again) and can’t afford to do EOTR as well. One day when it aligns with school holidays maybe

I want this lineup at green man so I don’t have to go to Dorset/ have some chance of not being alone

ur hill STINKS. The corpse of Machina is rancid

I’m actually a bit worried with what GM will announce next week now. Ok, Big Thief, Aldous Harding, The Comet is Coming, Whitney, BCNR, Dry Cleaning, Just Mustard and Penelope Isles played last year, and I’m not too fussed about Bright Eyes, but was hoping for Angel Olsen there this year (she did headline Far out in 2017 mind)

Reckon maybe Deerhunter, Nick Cave, and Westlife to headline
