track for track, those EPs beat out almost every track from their actual albums.

I wholeheartedly disagree that the early ep’s are their best work. But who cares. It’s all great.

Very good shout indeed! They never lived up to the expectation built from this EP

This is 1000% the correct answer

Fixed is also absolutely incredible - I know objectively broken is probably “better” but I listen to Fixed far more…

Disco Inferno’s EPs are better than their albums. Take your pick.

Fall Be Kind is right up there with the best Animal Collective stuff I reckon, feels a lot less like a clearing house EP than most of their others.

Great shout, forgot about that. The first two tracks are sublime, especially What Would I Want? Sky.

The Prospect Hummer EP with Vashti Bunyan is absolutely gorgeous too!

i think the panpipes on the first track immediately put me off that EP (apart from What Would I Want Sky which i’d already seen them do live)

Blind Love had some good songs, even great songs. If it had been another EP, we’d probably be raving about that one too.

I’m a big fan of the EP format for its positive effect on quality control. I’d go so far as to say that at least 90% of all albums released would be significantly better if they were EPs rather than LPs.

Have you heard The Dear Hunter’s The Color Spectrum? or Thrice’s The Alchemy Index?

Danan - Sissy Hits

It’s an album though

Technically the RCAA considers it an EP as it only contains 6 tracks

I wonder how many shoegaze bands this thread applies to?

Needless to say, I have not!

(though I have heard, and highly rate, Dearhunter’s Fluorescent Grey EP)

I only ever have seen (or owned) copies with this longer track listing?

think that must be the UK reissue with a bunch of bonus tracks?

obviously a Japanese version if we’re talking bonus tracks.
