one that’s not been mentioned that it sounds like you would like is diamond district. oddisee’s solo stuff is usually very good too, but dd’s ‘in the ruff’ is probs my favourite thing he’s been involved with.

also check out ka, ‘the night’s gambit’ in particular is a great album

think you meant this album:

Given what you like, the kind of things I’d suggest are:

Common - Be
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor
Shabazz Palaces - Black Up
The Roots - How I Got Over
Edan - Beauty and the Beat
ATCQ - We got it from here
Dizzee Rascal - Boy in Da Corner

Not really my favourites but suit what you’re looking for.

‘Be’ is a great shout from that list.

Sure! Though Like Water for Chocolate is the “essential” Common LP of the millennium :sunglasses:

Yeah for sure, just based on the brief that was bang on. And the corner is still :100: Still haven’t done a soulqiarians thread, need to get on it. Glad someone suggested the Blu/exile album too.

OP, have you listened to The Blueprint?

Pinata is pretty much a classic to me. Didn’t know Gibbs had a new one out until today.

My H-HAOTM has to be Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek) - Train of Thought

Came in to suggest Common. I like RTJ, but only in small doses I’ve discovered.

Impossible to know where to start.

I’d listen to these, year by year, and just Shazam anything that grabs your ear!

1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 were the best years though :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s really solid. It’s almost a mini LP - 8 songs, 30 minutes - so not much room for filler. Definitely recommended for Gibbs fans

and 1996 :fire:

Yeah 96 was great.

It’s funny - listening to those mixes does make you reassess. I’d always considered 98,99,00 as the doldrums mainly 'cos of the jiggy explosion but you forget how much other interesting stuff came out then too.

Hello mate, with Kendrick i am 100% agree, like his music very much! Still enjoy it!

Some slightly cringey political uk hip-hop - is there any other kind?
