It made sense if you were someone who’d never been in a stadium (recreate the previous bowl but with an all-seater). The problem was that the previous bowl held about 150,000 at its peak and you were now spreading about 50,000 seats over the same space.

Dark and dank but I was there for England’s Euro 96 games against Spain and Germany and the '94 Burnley-Stockport play off final and they definitely felt like thrilling events and intense, wonderful atmospheres. Only been once to the new Wembley and found it okay but nothing special, felt a lot smaller than 90,000 capacity
