Love Holland in tournaments ever since World Cup 78.

Flair, trickery, style, always dangerous.

Was pretty ecstatic when England beat them in Euro 96 though as we really took apart a team I’ve always held in high regard.

Watched it with about 10 mates in a crowded living room, one of whom was Dutch. Can vividly recall for no reason at all shouting:

"From here I can see man, from here I can see dwarf" to which the Dutch guy said quietly “I can’t see anything, because I’m blind”.

Room fell apart with laugher, might not translate well now.

I got lost in Ibiza when I was 18 and bumped into a middle aged Dutch bloke who was walking along the street eating a fried egg sandwich really late at night. He walked me back to my hotel but he didn’t say much.

Was too young, 78 was the first World Cup I watched and I poured over every minute of it.

Arie Haan was a God with them thunderbolt strikes.
