Weird how in Australia a thing is a type of shoe but in Europe and I presume North America it’s a genre of underwear. Could imagine some hilarious mixups!

I as an Englishperson use the terms trousers and pants interchangeably, thought everybody did.

This did happen to me when I was working in Australia.
I genuinely hadn’t heard them referred to as thongs before and was quite curious as to why I was being informed that they weren’t appropriate to wear in work.
