the other two are doing music performance as a degree though so I get to practise in a university for FREE

I’m going to reply in the evening thread as it is the evening!

Thanks very much for listening to it! Everything was recorded live in one take and all the material was improvised. I can’t even remember playing some of the parts!

I love playing improvised music, you have to be so on your toes to keep up (or lead.) We’re lucky in that there’s a whole group of people here interested in it, unlike anywhere else in Ireland.

Yes man! That’s exactly how I do it as well! Boss Bass Overdrive and an old Boss Digital Delay and you’re in filthworld.

Just back from dance class, have to quickly knock out an article, then go to my mates’ house to drop up a stereo. Then I can actually have a drink.

Spent a lot of my day in a school some friends work in fixing their acoustic guitars so the kids can play them in class. Stunk of lemon oil and guitar polish before dance and now I smell of sweat, lemon oil and guitar polish.

Group presentation in the morning in front of the whole class. Can’t wait for our slot to be over (we’re second up). I’ll be so relieved.

Getting some psych-up music prepp’d.

That’s so cool man! How often do you guys get together and jam?

Thanks. They both sound top. Have just started rewatching the first Planet Earth now.

Oh man, binge watch all 4 of them instead.

this has made my day

Not Earth have played together three times this year. Once for the album recording, once for the launch and once for the Cork Jazz Festival!

Apart from that we all jam together fairly regularly in different configurations. A lot of time a group of five or six of us will take all our instruments and go out to a house in the country and play all night. Everyone swaps around and tries different things. I’m especially liking playing synths during funk jams these days.

There’s also a regular improv night every Thursday in one venue, then there’s a monthly one in another venue along with different gigs now and then. We even put on an improv gig in the busiest nightclub in the city where we played disco and house live.
