Definitely over 1,500. It really kicked off in the last five or six years, started going out almost every night of the week, sometimes to multiple gigs a night. I saw over 300 bands in 2015 I do know that.

interesting. i’ve just gone through my last.fm event history and counted about 160 (not including comedy gigs) though that’s not definitive and definitely missing lots of small pub gigs especially. definitely can’t match 1500 though!

I go to see absolutely anything and everything I can. Remember going to a Billy Joel tribute night followed by an improv jazz night before. Cork is pretty good for having lots of bands on in really close proximity to each other.

I go to a lot on my own as well. Originally it was an excuse for drinking but then I saw a load of really good young Cork bands in my local and started going to all their gigs and the rest was history.

Also had the advantage at one point of free entry into the Pavilion venue. Saw Roy Ayers, the Pharcyde, Purling Hiss and loads more there for free.
