japanese is what i wanna learn. how’s the classes? is it $$$?

Think mine were 270 ish for 10 weeks, which isn’t brilliant value, but the teacher was very very good. You get a discount if you pay for another set of 10 in advance.

In the class there’s a lot of speaking and putting you on the spot which I found very useful, and then there’s a little bit of homework plus learning hiragana in your own time. Combine it with apps, flashcards etc and you’ll really accelerate your learning.

I finished level 1 part 2 recently and will probably sign up again.

Is this so you can play Final Fantasy games in their original language?

25-30 p/h seems to be the going rate anyway tbh so it’s not bad value.

NO OF COURSE NOT. i want to read my weaboo japanese novels in the original language.

my old housemate used to do uilleann pipes lessons over skype. i imagine it’s quite awkward. i did a job interview over skype once which felt quite weird.

I did one over skype a few months ago too, it helped me knowing that I could always just close the laptop to make it go away if I needed.

that’s true, but i was living with my parents again at the time and it was quite offputting knowing my mum was milling around the house while i was doing it.

true enough, it was much more relaxed knowing I had the place to myself

Another thing to look out for on evening classes is whether they still have the numbers to hold the classes as they progress.

If you’re in London, I think it will be fine, but when I was in Newcastle, every language that my housemates and I did (Russian, Chinese, Japanese) ended up having to cancel the course part way through the second year due to dropouts and a lack of numbers.
