Nah, you’re right to a certain extent and that’s one of the problems people on the left have - it’s very difficult to hold any significant position on many things without looking like a hypocrite in some way or living a life that marks you out as a “crank” and being easily dismissed. See “champagne socialists” who have an opportunity to change things vs Swampy et all.
I don’t have much time for Tories - even the better ones who I agree with on many of the problems facing society at the moment I see as enabling the worst of them - but at the moment political discourse is toxic and I’m not sure “painting Tories as automatically evil” (as you put it ) in general without repetition of specifics really helps get those who aren’t already onboard with leftish ideas onboard.
I think people have been a bit hard on you just for speaking up honestly tbh.
