just want you all to know i tried to photoshop tori amos’ head onto a big godzilla for an amusing gag, but realised it fell apart because it required that you recognise tori amos in the year 2017

couldn’t think of anyone else called tory either.

because by accepting that amount of money they are putting implicit support behind the notion that they are worth more than countless others on minimum wage/part time work/out of work.

but actually the serious point is that most of us are a little more “tory” than we like to admit, and we all believe that we are not the bad people and that our complicit acts of greedy capitalism are either not our fault or that we have worked hard enough to deserve the benefits we receive from the system. Of course there are degrees to this but that’s exactly the point and why I disagree with the ranting tone of threads like this.

Not trying to be specifically mean to anyone here, it’s just my feeling on it sorry.

Nah, you’re right to a certain extent and that’s one of the problems people on the left have - it’s very difficult to hold any significant position on many things without looking like a hypocrite in some way or living a life that marks you out as a “crank” and being easily dismissed. See “champagne socialists” who have an opportunity to change things vs Swampy et all.

I don’t have much time for Tories - even the better ones who I agree with on many of the problems facing society at the moment I see as enabling the worst of them - but at the moment political discourse is toxic and I’m not sure “painting Tories as automatically evil” (as you put it ) in general without repetition of specifics really helps get those who aren’t already onboard with leftish ideas onboard.

I think people have been a bit hard on you just for speaking up honestly tbh.
