Everyone is trapped at Burning Man

:grimacing:

lol never mind

Well that’s awful

I jumped on the subreddit out of curiosity and it sounds really rough. A lot of people not prepared for multiple days of extreme rain (cause why would you) and no clear way to evacuate the site…

people are normally allowed to drive their cars around the festival grounds? thats mad as fuck

It’s a whole thing that people make Mad Max style vehicles called art cars that are part of the vibe of the place.

The grounds are like the size of a town or something, I believe. Think I read it’s five times as large as Glastonbury.

My friends are at Burning Man. I hope they’re okay.

My friend got back to me last night after I sent a worried message - yep, all fine. Phew. Far from ideal but they’re safe at least.

Is the challenge here not less that they don’t have supplies and more that it’s extremely remote and no one can get in or leave?

Yeah and it’s in the desert, so even a minor rainstorm can be quite quite bad.

A few selfish billionaires have gotten themselves out

Chris Rock and Diplo, of all people.

One of my colleagues got married like this, she’s amazing

Been so many allegations about him in recent years

What even is Burning Man? My understanding is that the main attractions are vehicular art and drugs. Are there food and drink facilities like a normal music festival? I was under the impression it was a sort of fend for yourself and share with others type thing.

Basically I thought seeing as everyone drives there I would have thought they bring all their essentials with them, although if that isn’t the case then yeah It’s 15 miles to the nearest town like so I don’t envy them!

We reviewed it years ago, think it’s changed a fair bit in last decade
