Explain to me how the fuck Nick Hewer was Countdown host for nearly a decade

Feel like it was about three years.

He started hosting in 2012 and finished in 2021. That is nine years, whereas a decade is ten, so he nearly - but not quite, missing out by one year - presented the show for a decade.

Interestingly this is the same timespan for which he was on The Apprentice.
