Yeah tbh I shouldn’t have said that “there’s a lot of it itt”, as it’s mainly more a critique of carrying out a protest at Canning Town, but there’s plenty of people going with the narrative that you shouldn’t disrupt public transport which (A) seems to miss the point of protests a bit, and (B) kinda focuses on this as if it’s the only thing they’ve been doing:
That said, this post is pretty much “middle class people shouldn’t protest because they’re privileged”
- It’s probably been put more eloquently elsewhere but there’s something very classist and exclusive about these protests. You can tell that being arrested is going to have little or no effect on their lives.
[edit: to be clear I don’t want to single out people or anything, just want to point out that it’s really easy to fall into as a “no true protestor” kinda trap. Honestly I’m a bit conflicted about getting at commuters in Canning Town, as that isn’t a wealthy area. Think they should be doing this in Wimbledon or Richmond or somewhere…]
