something called microsurgery

if your eyeball is too round they cut slices into it so that when it heals it flattens out a bit and fixes your eyesight

it’s not as popular as laser surgery bc your eye has to be fucked in a specific way for it to work.

not far off tbf

This sounds very different to laser eye surgery.

a dude literally stands over you with a scalpel and presses it into your eyeball as your looking at him. proper horror show stuff
and you’re wearing one of these

they just do one eye at a time though

Well that sounds horrific. What does it do to your eyesight? :frowning:

You’ll need an entirely new line up of ‘Not Andy Vines’

Yes, my stepdad has lost his eye to an amoeba :frowning:
@ericthefourth

(It was partly his fault for not being clean enough with his contact lenses. )

Fuck that’s awful

FUCK. RIGHT. OFF.

You’re not under general anaesthetic?

Would’ve been if they’d been qualified surgeons.

nope. just local.

Wore glasses from about 5 years old (fun school times wearing NHS black framed geeky glasses, wasn’t picked on at all!). Moved to contacts when I was about 20, gas permeables (hard ones, ooer) which took ages to get used to. I was lazy af with them, didn’t clean them until I couldn’t see properly, it’s amazing that the worst thing I got was a minor eye infection.

Had laser treatment in 2000 (the old PRK that they no longer do. One eye at a time, it’s insanely painful for days afterwards and takes about a month before you can see much out of it) but thanks to my astigmatism worsening and now being old enough to need reading glasses I am now back to wearing specs pretty much full time again, money well spent there then! :frowning:

keep going

Yup, :face_vomiting:

The laser one is under local too.

Apparently they plunge the device down into your eye and the force locks at the point where it cuts off the optic nerve.

But then you can smell your eye ball being burned by the laser.

Didn’t one of you make this yet?!
