Probably one of the best live bands on the planet? I’ve only seen them once and seen a couple of their sets on TV, but they are so fun and joyous and positive that it’s impossible to dislike them. They’ve written some of the most uplifting music i’ve ever listened to too.
I saw Ezra Collective at Green Man last year, it may have been the only set our entire group watched together and it was lovely. I don’t really listen to them on record, best enjoyed live. I’ll have to check out the Glastonbury set whilst it is still up on iPlayer.
They were amazing at GM. I felt bad for Sampha who was next up after EC. He was really good but EC were such a tough act to follow given their energy levels and enthusiasm.
Been a fan since 2017 and so, so pleased that they’re doing so well now. I’ve seen them three times. First time was Green Man in 2019 which immediately became my second favourite gig of all time and last was last year at the Barrowlands where they played the same set as at Glasto and immediately became my favourite gig of all time.
They’re most incredible live, but the albums are well worth a listen too with several featured artists and some great jazz standards that don’t often make the running order of their live shows.
Saw them at Cross the Tracks recently and they were superb. Pretty much everyone at the festival wanted to be there to see their set on the main stage. It was rammed.
Similar to the Sampha situation, Michael Kiwanuka had to follow them and it was always going to be a bit of a come down.
I think I enjoyed it even more the other time I saw them, which was on a much smaller stage at All Points East (or whatever the one day festivals in Victoria Park were called that year) a few years ago. I was completely blown away by what a party they were live compared to the records.
I’ve only seen Ezra Collective once properly (supporting Kamasi Washington), and they’re the band my Mum left the show raving about. They were also one of the main organisers of the Tony Allen tribute at the Southbank, and they came across as such nice people as well as incredible musicians. Can’t wait to see their set opening for Stevie Wonder next weekend!
Excellent act, was lucky to get into them quite early, when the Juan Pablo EP came out. I’ve somehow only seen them once, back in 2018, but they were fantastic. This year’s Glastonbury set was special, probably the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen.
