good to see no-one other than David Coulthard, who tbf was pretty biased towards Red Bull anyway, getting either drivers or constructors champions right.

Going into the last race, Alonso and Hamilton and Webber could’ve all won the title (first time Vettel led the championship was after the last race) so they weren’t really that far off tbf

Didn’t see any of it, but according to Brundle, if he stopped again without leaving his box before the lights went out then it could be considered to be legit. Not 100% on that reading myself.

race yesterday could’ve been an all time classic if the top 4 had all bunched up near the end as seemed possible. was good overall tho

Alonso, Clark and Fangio should probably be the others in the top 5

top ten i guess has to include Prost, Stewart and Lauda and maybe Brabham purely for winning a championship in his own car. James Hunt just behind the top ten

Not sure how instructive it is to compare Hamilton with e.g. Fangio or even Senna. The cars are so remarkably different it just feels like an arbitrary exercise.

Aye. Come back when Hamilton’s lapped the field on a wet day at Donnington.

(Hamilton’s obviously one of the best drivers in his generation, but the formula today is so car dominated I struggle to judge drivers from the 2000s onwards against anyone from last century.

Cars have indeed changed a lot and agree that the car is more important now than in the past but it has almost always been 2 drivers per team, that means everyone has a benchmark

wet races also give drivers more chance to shine - eg. Max in Brazil 2016, that was amazing
