Didn’t see any of it, but according to Brundle, if he stopped again without leaving his box before the lights went out then it could be considered to be legit. Not 100% on that reading myself.

what he did was offputting to other drivers, which is why if the law says what he did was ok, the law should be changed

6 double championships in a row is quite something eh

race yesterday could’ve been an all time classic if the top 4 had all bunched up near the end as seemed possible. was good overall tho

via reddit F1.5 forum… if you take out the top 3 teams here’s what the championship looks like

how highly we rating Hamilton now then? he’s in the top 10 but maybe not the top 5 of all time

GOAT: Schumacher

fastest but still 2nd: Senna

Alonso, Clark and Fangio should probably be the others in the top 5

top ten i guess has to include Prost, Stewart and Lauda and maybe Brabham purely for winning a championship in his own car. James Hunt just behind the top ten

Not sure how instructive it is to compare Hamilton with e.g. Fangio or even Senna. The cars are so remarkably different it just feels like an arbitrary exercise.

Aye. Come back when Hamilton’s lapped the field on a wet day at Donnington.

(Hamilton’s obviously one of the best drivers in his generation, but the formula today is so car dominated I struggle to judge drivers from the 2000s onwards against anyone from last century.

Cars have indeed changed a lot and agree that the car is more important now than in the past but it has almost always been 2 drivers per team, that means everyone has a benchmark

wet races also give drivers more chance to shine - eg. Max in Brazil 2016, that was amazing

Closest thing for Lewis was lapping all bar 2nd and 3rd on a wet day at Silverstone.

Woof! Some finale that.

Fantastic finish! Utter idiocy from Vettel, and although I’m sad for Albon I don’t think Hamilton has too much to blame himself for. Felt Albon went far too wide to start with, let him in, panicked then swung inside too much at the last moment.

Vettel :man_facepalming:

Albon :frowning:

that race

Mercedes delivering a Ferrari-esque “lets shoot ourselves in both feet” performance there, turning a pretty much nailed on 2nd into 7th…

Shame Sainz didn’t get to celebrate his podium but what a season he’s had. Vettel could finally end up getting that one-race ban that he’s been stumbling towards…

love Lando

The ending of The Notebook was absolutely brilliant.

The file of Vettel’s driving mistakes, questionable driving, inability to cope when beaten by a superior driver and general loss of temper is enormous and expanding seemingly every race. He’s still fast but mentally he’s an absolute liability at this stage, his time at a top team is surely expiring.

Great race.

Some tracks just consistently deliver, don’t they? And some don’t. Sort them out our kick them out.

Love to see Ferrari come a cropper. Leclerc was unfortunate.

Glad McLaren are getting back towards being competitive. Sainz is class.

I used to be very pro-Vettel, but he’s properly crumbling, huh? Difficult to see how he’s ever going to put together another championship winning season ahead of future challengers like Max, Leclerc and Albon. Or even be given the chance, beyond whatever his current contract is.

Kinda irksome how Hamilton is becoming vaguely likeable after being one of the most annoying people on the planet. But fair play.
