I love the smell of our fabric softener, didn’t know it was bad for the environment :grimacing:

I use it for the smell alone. Don’t notice a difference with softness

I knew about the towels. I use the extra water setting on the washing machine instead

Also, fabric softener is no good with football shirts and sports kit

dont think it exists tbh

Doing my first fabric softener free wash, as it goes. On the edge of my seat.

I do because it leaves clothes smelling nice. Otherwise they don’t really smell of anything and I like to at least give the illusion of being clean.

Goes on middle drawer of your washing machine :+1:

Also, for smelly stuff like sports wear, a capful of Zoflora in the fabric conditioner drawer is like magic, can wash at a lower temperature too.

Probably ought to do it in the washing machine/bath /local river or stream instead. The edge of your seat wouldn’t be any good for washing anything

Omg! I’ve heard about the zoflora trick!
Obsessed with the stuff.

Thanks for clarifying it goes in the fabric softener slot btw, assumed it went in the drum. Good to know :+1:

You can probably do either but I figured you’ll get more even distribution if it goes in the drawer. I’m quite partial to Linen Fresh but looking forward to Christmas season kicking in when Winter Spice makes a comeback

I find I don’t need it, I use the smol pods that come in the post which work a treat. If I want some extra nice smell, I put some condioner in to boost it, but don’t feel like it makes anything softer.

Oh I need soft clothes!

God forbid there’s a war!

My first wash sans fabric softener seems like a roaring success so far!! Just took the clothes and two small towels out, and they smelt fresher?? Dunno if that’s a placebo thing though.
Also felt soft as normal.
Can’t believe I’ve been done like this, thank you to @Slicky and others for opening my eyes

Makes your laundry smell and feel weird.

So it’s a no from me, Clive.

The Lavender one is good on bedclothes too!

I’ll be honest, I quite like a rough towel.

Thinking back to the days I didn’t use fabric conditioner on account of being skint, I seem to remember my clothes not smelling or feeling as nice. That might just be psychological, or possibly due to the fact I was using the cheapest available washing powder for the same reason.

I don’t disagree, but I wonder whether it’s because I associate a rough towel with it being clean. If it’s soft it’s probably too filthy to be used

Give it a sniff, you’ll be ok then

Same with bedding for me. If I get in and it’s too soft I think “yuck, change these sheets you filthy minx.”
