I tend to agree, with the closest family I have being 2300 miles away it’s nice being connected in some way other than text and Skype. And it’s the best way to stay in touch with my local community, better than that bullshit Nextdoor.
On the friends end of things, a very large percentage of my local friends and acquaintances exited after the last trump election and it was revealed FB allowed bots and misinformation etc. So I feel like the only non-family, non-community people I interact with on there (aka friends) are ones from a past life in another state more than 18 years ago. Only one of them have I seen in person in those years. So it feels weird and I miss my local friends being on there. I also miss it as a source of info and news to some degree. I’d say the same for instagram re: news, plus the memes are fun. And my local friends are there. But it’s also addictive and not great for my mental health. Taking a break is nice, although tough given current events of the week.
I suppose on the website you could bookmark the Marketplace page. But in the mobile app, don’t think so. I feel like there was a Marketplace app at one point and they got rid of it, but could be misremembering.
I’ve never had the app so it’s only on the web - it’s just that having an account and no will power I get sucked into arguing with dickheads because i keep getting shown shite.
