They could have got a better logo if they didn’t have to pay all that pesky tax

I love shit like this.

Probably not the thread for me, I make a living doing this stuff

Loads and loads of work can go into logos and type and all that. Very debatable as to whether it’s worth that work i guess, but there’s a real craft to it

do you think you would eventually go insane if you had to do 100 different versions of the boots logo that just had the oos spaced ever so slightly differently

Probably not that different to the half hour I spent yesterday fiddling with EQ settings for a single instrument track then turning the EQ off and realised that I liked it better without.

Starting to think the facebook logo is quite clever now, like it’s just ‘there’, very non descript and dull, if this was a person you wouldn’t really pay then much attention, the kind of person who you would never suspect of being an evil enemy spy, you might trust them with looking after your bag on the train whilst you go to the loo, they could turn up at your works party and people would just assume they worked in accounts or something even tho you’d never seen them before.

That’s all quite good for highly suspicious Facebook

this is hilarious for some reason

the logo looks a lot different on white space to in various other contexts

my work gives me branding guidelines for developments, with their own colour palette of 3 ranges of colours 'chilled, vivid or rich" and you can only use certain ones in combination from the colour ‘wheel’. I don’t pay any attention tbh

I’m on the other side of this to you, like I set those rules and what have you. I’m curious as to why you (and countless others but it’s a bit awkward to ask those people in s work context) choose to ignore the style guides?

do the eyes follow you around the room?

yeah. just like F A C E B O O K follows you around the internet. it’s clever.

mainly because nobody really follows them, they’re overbearing, convoluted ie. “colours work best when separated by a third of the colour wheel but are still within the same colour range.” do they? and I don’t know who came up with the rules.
Like, I’ll stick to the approved logo and the colours we generally have used throughout previous developments, but I’m not digging out a 40 page guide on what I should use alongside fuschia. I am also incredibly discerning with great taste so lets just trust me to make things look shit hot baby

The other ‘o’.

Ok you sound like one of the good ones :+1:
I don’t think anyone ever follows the extremes of style guides ( think people only put that stuff in to bulk out the work tbh)

Yeah, totally agree. £600 a day sounds OK. I’m sure I paid similar to have my living room repainted, and only 3 people look at that, as opposed to the Boots logo which I assume is more than 3.

hope one day we live in a world without eyes so we don’t have to see company logos
