Me too. It’s going to be shit either way so why worry about it.

The problem, imho, is that the horrific/faffy bits bookend the nice bit, so they have an inflated impact.

Travelling to the airport 7/10 faff
Airport 10/10 faff
Flying 6/10 faff
Getting to the hotel 9/10 faff
Checking in 7/10 faff

Then you get about two days where you can start to relax before the dread about the impending faff for the way home starts to creep in.

Exactly. That sweet 2/10 faff in the middle is far too short, but longer holidays are just a bit much.

Just about every abroad holiday we go on involves a return via Gatwick airport (shit), Southern Rail (shit), East Croydon station (shit) and if we’re unlucky a Croydon minicab (shit).

Airport pint regardless of what time the flight is?

  • Of course
  • Nah no drinking before flight
  • Depends on time of flight

Really, really tried to make myself enjoy my summer holiday this year. Would still rather have stayed home.

Searching and choosing the destination online and booking it is the worst part, right?

Took about two hours on Sunday night trying to decide where to go for someone new and special’s birthday in a fortnight’s time. About half an hour in and I think we were both happy to stay home.

Nothing seems to kill enthusiasm faster.

We’re going to Prague.

Depends on how much time is left between going through security and boarding the plane. If it’s less than 10 mins, the pint will have to wait for another day.
.

Have done most holidays alone i think as it cuts down on faff enormously- no need to make compromises or show up earlier to places than I like to, no one to reassure about logistics etc.

But with Jnr, well the faff is higher and the enjoyment level is reduced by having no time away from her at all and adapting things to her routines and tantrums. So not really into holidays much right now, but when she’s a bit older and I wont live in fear of her running into a road or not being able to swim then I’m hoping for higher enjoyment levels to return.

Always got to appreciate the classics.
