Canada is a sneaky power nation at this music lark. Would be very surprised if I consider as many contenders for another country in this series (presuming we dont do the US or UK)
Carly Rae Jepson
Oh yeahhhhhh I forgot Peaches was Canadian!!!
Peaches come from a CAN
- Godspeed You! Black Emperor
- Tim Hecker
- Arcade Fire
2 arcade fire
3 Owen palllett
4 broken social scene
5 carly rae jephson
Weird that there was that whole Canadian indie rock explosion, and yet so little of it is noteworthy now.
Another vote for:
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Grimes is awful, Peaches is great. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
“So Grimes, what first attracted you to multi-multi-multi-billionaire Elon Musk?”
Thanks for voting. I’m off to do some adding up now!

I’m too late but FWIW
- Do Make Say Think
- Neil Young
- Arcade Fire (just for Funeral, part of NB and the early shows)
- Broken Social Scene
Caribou extremely close to making the cut.
it really, really, really is
- Hey Rosetta!
2-5. Metric, Our Lady Peace, Alvvays, The Tragically Hip
Gah our bands aren’t very good and I’m not big into our solo artists. Pop punk industry was good but those don’t last as well in terms of sound, not a single Canadian band makes my top 10.
