Do we need another 2025 thread? Probably not but here’s one anyway. It may be that the best music of 2025 wasn’t originally released in 2025!
I’ve got a few, although maybe not as many as last year, which I’ll put in this thread sooner or later.

The Mellon Collie 30th Anniversary Reissue is fantastic - it has a bonus live disc, and it’s incredible.
We finally have a version of Thru the Eyes of Ruby on streaming with the famous alternate heavy ending.
Billy and Jimmy are the greatest musical duo of all time.
Listen to how they suddenly detonate and tease the ending during the descent into the final quiet section, I love it.
What a band.
Think someone posted this one on here compilation of Australian shoegazey stuff

Outstanding. Seven albums, all different, ranging from Young Marble Giants type bedroom lofi to offbeat house to lush ambient textures. I’ve loved exploring all this.
Looking forward to some recommendations on this thread, dont feel like I’ve listened to a huge amount of either this year
Jon E Cash - Sublow
VARIOUS (Principe) - Não Estragou Nada
Hüsker Dü - 1985: The Miracle Year
VARIOUS - Planet Mu 30
Jeff Mills - Live At Liquid Room
A Love From Outer Space by Sean Johnston

Saw him DJ at Phonox last week. He played loads off this. A great mix of dark disco, 80s, post punk and house. Been a real soundtrack to my year.
several things I thought were reissued or unearthed this year when I started this thread were actually from before, but there we go
Anyway, here’s a recently reissued free jazz classic by Alan Silva and his Celestial Communication Orchestra; usually I prefer duos or small groups in jazz - easier to hear the interplay between musicians - but this is a large ensemble (with some influential names, Anthony Braxton, Archie Shepp, Grachan Moncur III) and somehow them all going for it at once reaches an odd stasis, almost restful at low volumes. Not for everyone of course.
The Seefeel re-issues are pretty cool Pure, Impure (Expanded EPs Edition) | Seefeel
Two very cool Naoki Zushi albums reissued by World Of Echo in 2025. III is on the more understated, melancholy side of Japanese psychedelia; Paradise (which I didn’t know before) seems a bit scrappier and has a few wilder Crazy Horsish moments too
Said in the Springsteen thread but Tracks 2: The Lost Albums presents an alt history of his 90s-2000s-2010s that for the most part is better than the records he released. Basically these are generally the quieter albums he decided not to release in favour of being stadium Bruce.
There’s seven albums in the boxset - four (83 Sessions, Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, Inyo and Faithless) are outright great and 2 are very strong (Twilight Hours and Somewhere North of Nashville)
To be honest it’s my favourite music released this year and I cannot imagine another time in my life when a favourite artist’s discography will deepen this much in such a short space of time.
Today I wrote nothing - billy woods
Nice vinyl reissue and reminder that this is a low-key masterpiece in his back catalogue
