so disheartening that they just get away with being so shit. 10 years of these dickheads being evil and fucking up and yet they’ve increased their vote at every GE.

I should also say that the Home Office is notorious for being a horrible and toxic place to work. I know at least three people who had horrendous experiences there and got out as soon as they could.

She’s just a bomb waiting to go off. Hopefully not a real one. Someone that stupid is going to make a major fuck up sooner rather than later.

The problems go back at least as far as when Theresa May was there - the place was rife with bullying from the top down.

This line from the bbc Philip Rutnam news article made me laugh though, it’s like that quote from Darkplace

Well nobody’s more attuned to the issue of bullying in the civil service than me (I was bullied out myself), but by far the bigger issue is the damage to the country she’s liable to do before she gets the elbow.

ewww so the Boris baby thing was true. absolute vom. he’s PM now and should be banned from shagging

I was about to say I know a few but then realised they’re all my age, i.e. no longer young. Fuck sake

I know two former young Tories.

One my brother in law. Grew up son of multi-millionaire hyper Tory, home counties big house, private school, all that kind of shit. Got out of that mindset when he went to university and did vote Labour in 2015, but is still a little bit of a neoliberal halfwit and went LibDem in 17 and 19. Partly because of Brexit, and partly out of thinking Corbyn was a dangerous radical and pining for The Sensibles to return to government. I’ll make a communist out of him yet.

The other my cousin, went turbo Tory of her own accord in her first year of university. Partly I think this may have been in some way due to having a really fucked up upbringing that meant she had to deal with a lot of stuff on the regular from aged 12 onwards that would break a lot of grown adults, so she seemed to really identify with Thatcher’s individuality politics that everybody should sort them fucking selves out. Also her mum, whilst nominally Labour because it’s massively unacceptable in our family to not be Labour, is thick and her personal politics are Tory af although she (at least claims to) always votes red. Tried to have words with her nicely to bring her round but always got met with scary far right meme speak. Surprisingly she went to work in America for a year after university and came back a massive comrade; doorknocked and phone banked for Labour at this election :fist:

Oh shit I do actually know a young Tory, who is my brother-in-law. No idea how my partner fell from that diseased tree as a red apple tbh

afaik the closest i am to a young tory is being friends on facebook with a young telegraph writer.

A few years ago a mate from home came to notting hill carnival with us and brought her along, she’s one of his oxford uni mates. She was nice enough - if I’m being honest, I don’t remember actually talking to her, we were in a large group - but I’m friends with her on Facebook and it’s funny having someone on my timeline posting about being on question time.

I’ve never actually watched an episode with her on, what’s she been like?

I have two super Tory friends (one was a Tory councillor, one works for a Tory MP).

But now I’m in my early 30s having friends means “people I see for a meal every six months” so whatever.

Pretty sure you can just replace the IP in there with any sector and you’re good to go for an op-ed

It’s fine, we had a good run. Got told when I left my job at Tesco when I was 19 that there would always be a job there if I wanted it, and I’m sure they’ll still honour that now.

There’s only gonna be two jobs soon: Operating the soylent machine. And the other one.
