Agree with most of this to be honest and prefer those films to Hereditary and Midsommar. I did really like Midsommar but hated how passive Florence Pughs character was and how there was no real resolution for all the trauma she went through.

The new James Bond film is 163 minutes runs away screaming

(will probably still watch it though)

Like many film anecdotes this is probably apocryphal but I like it nonetheless:

At one point when making The Fugitive, producer Arnold Kopelsen tried to hurry things along on set by saying 'Let’s go guys, no one’s winning an Oscar for The Fugitive!

Hey Ghibli-acs, recommend me a starting point out of the ones now on Netflix pls yeah?

My Neighbour Totoro or Kiki’s Delivery Service

I went to see Birds Of Prey and it was really fucking good. Not surprised that all of you PENCIL NECK POINDEXTERS in here have not paid it any mind, your loss tbqh.

Other recent film happenings from the past week;

Traded in a bunch of old stuff at CEX last week and got extended edition LotR blu ray box set. Can’t wait for a weekend where me and Her Indoors get all of them watched.

We watched What Happened Miss Simone? on Netflix at the weekend, v good, but also made me quite sad.

Bought Tangerine on blu ray, only came out in the US so it’s a US blu ray, which is not normally a problem because they’re p much all not region locked. To my horror I found that this is region locked and I’m going to have to do some dweeby hack to my blu ray player to get around that, which is aggravating.

Sorry, but even with Margot Robbie and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the cast there was no way I was ever going to pay attention to anything even semi-related to Suicide Squad

I don’t think you are at all!

I haven’t seen Suicide Squad, I understand it was Not Good, but I think the only thing this one has in common is Margot Robbie. Don’t normally like her either, and from the trailer I thought her voice would grate on me, but it actually didn’t and I really enjoyed her performance.

Ewan McGregor is fucking atrocious in it tho.

I like how one of the few constants here is everyone seemingly hating Ewan McGregor

Properly awful tho isn’t he.

Apart from Moulin Rouge, which is dope

and Trainspotting (which is also the only time Ewen Bremner and Johnny Lee Miller were any good)

Maybe he was good in Trainspotting but I resent that film because I was nicknamed Renton in my late teens/early twenties because of an ALLEGED resemblance.

Also good in shallow grave.

Ewan McGregor is great in ‘Rogue Trader’.

I really don’t want to be the catalyst for a Ewan McGregor critical rehabilitation subthread. It’d weigh on me.
